Family Law Blog: Reaching out on family law

Friday November 26, 2010 at 9:35am

Woolley & Co was founded 14 years ago through a desire to challenge the way law firms work. The idea was to embrace new technology, do away with expensive town centre offices and build a world class service around the needs of the customer. That meant fewer face to face meetings, emailed documents, appointments out of normal office hours, home working and transparent pricing. Our website was, and still is, the shop window for our services.

Since then, the ranks of senior level lawyers we have attracted have swelled to 20 and we have used different types of media – digital and otherwise – to reach out to people, not just showcasing our services but also giving expert comment on family law issues.

We’ve published a couple of books and started a second website in a bid to expel some common myths around divorce and separation. We’ve made some videos on issues regularly raised by clients. We have contributed to newspapers and magazines and, more recently, I have been writing these blogs as a way to comment on topical issues and raise specific subjects relating to family law.

For more than two years we have also produced a monthly Professionals Newsletter. This has been emailed out to professionals in other roles linked to divorce, like accountants, independent financial advisors, coaches, counsellors and the like.

This has been very well received and we have a loyal readership. However, feedback has suggested we might want to widen our audience – so we are.

Our new and improved Family Matters newsletter has been launched. It will be produced monthly as a vehicle to provide comment on the latest divorce and family law issues and emailed free to anyone who wants it.

It will include some of the most popular blogs from that month and serve as a handy reference guide to people on a whole host of issues, with links to relevant factual information on our websites.

As always, we want to know what you think. You can sign up here. Feel free to forward Family Matters to others or let them know where they too can subscribe.

We hope it will be of interest and another tool in the Woolley & Co armoury to reach out, stimulate debate and give expert opinion on topical legal issues.
