Family Law Blog: Divorce and family law resources for FREE

Monday January 17, 2011 at 2:11pm

I sometimes forget how large our family law website is and how difficult it can be to navigate around for the first time user. We work hard to try and improve that but at the end of the day we’ve just got so much to offer!

So, just in case you’ve missed them, here are the top 5 FREE resources in terms of popularity:

1. Surviving Family Conflict and Divorce Book

First published in 2007 and already into a second reprint, this book was written with contributions from our team of family law specialists to tackle the most common areas that clients ask about. With sections on How to make a separation legal, Understanding the costs of divorce, Coming to an agreement about where the children live and What to do if you can’t agree a financial settlement, there’s useful advice for anyone going through divorce or a relationship breakdown.

The book can be downloaded for free from our website. Hard copies are also available – just call us on 0800 321 3832.

2. How to get a divorce video

Over 3,000 people can’t be wrong – that’s how many have taken a look at our 5 minute video explaining in plain English the process and procedures for getting a divorce in the UK.

It’s a great resource for anyone confused by the divorce process or wanting to know what happens next.

3. Grandparents rights article.

We’re all regularly reminded about the breakdown of the family, and the number of people who visit our site specifically to read this article certainly suggests the impact is felt way beyond the couple who split.

Grandparents are often caught in the cross fire, resulting in some being denied an opportunity to be part of their grandchild’s life. This article explains what options are available if they want to try and secure an agreement for contact through the courts.

4. Exploring the myths about divorce and separation book

This pocket sized book contains a collection of 101 of the most common myths and misconceptions that our team of divorce solicitors encounter on a regular basis. We launched an accompanying website www.divorcemyths.co.uk  which allows users to check their own myths.

Copies of the book are free to download here.

5. Family Matters newsletter

Although relatively new, we’ve already had some great feedback from subscribers. It’s our way of providing a monthly digest of our blogs and other legal news. We’ve found fellow professionals have found it particularly helpful to pass on to their own clients.

Anyone can subscribe to receive Family Matters monthly into their inbox.

We’re always looking for other ways to present what can be complex legal information in an easy to use format so if you have any suggestions for improvements let me know.
