"I thought the page was useful and informative, as were others here. It stands to the credit of the firm that they leave in place what are mostly negative reviews. I do however, share the view that using solicitors is very expensive and one is generally left with the feeling that a do-it-yourself approach would have been as effective and a major saving. It is difficult especially when dealing with a partner who will claim legal aid - even though you know that they are hiding a significant portion of their income. Turning up to represent yourslf against a lawyer... hmmm... is that a good idea? It's a decision I'm having to make now since it appears that my ex and I are heading for court if social services don't do anything useful. I didn;t give the page 5*s because I thought a little more about expected/normal outcomes would be useful to people trying to make decisions as to whether or not to go down this route. I realise that that may be a little harsh though."

"(I've only given myself a 3 as I've upset Jo Jo). I don't think it's biased against women, unless the Law is? I don't control the Law, MPs do and we can trust them to be......oh, dear maybe there is the problem? But is it fair for women to automatically have legal rights for their children but men not? The article refers to men simply getting equal rights to the mother which sounds fair to me. I do agree with you on this though: calling it "parental responsibility" is odd, especially as so many show no responsibility at all and use children as weapons as discussed in my Blog."

"Why is it that articles about 'parental responsibility' are biassed towards fathers? ie. you have quoted: 'Obtaining Parental Responsibility for your child puts you on an equal basis with mother and gives you the legal right to have a say in your child’s upbringing. ' and 'In essence, this is the law officially recognising you as your child’s father and giving you the same rights as any other parent.'. What about the mother? Whilst 'parental responsibility' may exist as a legal term it is effectively a nonsense in practical terms since there appears to be no way of actually using it."

"This is with regard to the law in England and Wales. The law in Scotland may be different"

"It isn't clear if this relates to Scotland, or if the law in Scotland is different."
