Terms of business

This page explains the basis of our working relationship with a client. Before any work is undertaken you will be contacted by a lawyer to confirm all details and create a formal contract for our work.

Our Agreement
By purchasing via our website, you create an agreement with Woolley & Co to perform the work for which you have paid. On receipt of your payment your case will be allocated to a lawyer who will contact you to confirm in detail the nature of the work they will do for you and create a formal set of terms and conditions.

You have the right to cancel this agreement within 14 days without giving any reason. You can cancel by email, in writing or by telephone. If you cancel, we will send you back all payments you have made to us. If you want us to start work before the 14-day period, we are happy to do so and this should be confirmed with your lawyer. You still have the right to cancel within 14 days but if you do, we will deduct fair fees for any work completed before you cancel, before sending you any refund.

Identity checks
By law we are required to apply procedures to guard against money laundering. We will therefore need to confirm your identity, which we are normally able to do using an electronic ID checker, based on the information you enter on our website and any further information you provide to your lawyer. There are occasions where we may need to have items to prove your ID (such as a passport and utility bill) and will have to make detailed enquiries of you if you send to us any cash or money from an account that is not obviously normally operated by you.

Data protection and confidentiality
All data you supply is held securely. We use your data for the provision of legal services to you and for related purposes. Our use of that information is subject to your instructions, the Data Protection Act 2018 and our duty of confidentiality.  Our work for you may require us to give information to third parties such as expert witnesses and other professional advisors.

Under the data protection legislation, you have a right of access to the personal data which we hold about you.

Insurance
We are covered by professional indemnity insurance for the work that we do for you.
