Woolley & Co is delighted to welcome Mark Betteridge, a distinguished divorce and family law solicitor with over 36 years of legal experience, to its Hertford team. Mark brings a wealth of expertise in divorce, high-net-worth financial settlements, and contentious probate, having handled complex cases involving matrimonial assets in excess of £250 million, as well as significant inheritance disputes.
Throughout his long career, Mark has demonstrated his ability to navigate high-stakes litigation, business-asset structures, proprietary estoppel claims and sensitive will challenges. His unique background advising farming clients, together with his specialism in expat family law, positions him as a valuable addition to the firm.
Mark’s calm, direct manner and pragmatic, solution-focused approach align closely with Woolley & Co’s commitment to providing robust legal representation while exploring non-court dispute resolution where possible. He qualified in 1989 and spent nearly three decades leading his own practice in Hertfordshire, during which he became a pioneer in delivering online legal services.
“We are thrilled that someone of Mark’s calibre has joined us,” said Managing Director, Michelle Webley, “His depth of experience in high-value family matters will greatly enhance our capability to serve clients with complex needs in Hertfordshire and beyond.”
Mark added, “I’m excited to join Woolley & Co, a firm with strong values and a real commitment to tailored client service. I look forward to working with the team to provide strategic, long-term support to families through some of their most challenging times.”
