Did Guy “give up” on the children?

Many will have read that the Courts ordered that Madonna could keep the children with her in the US. In fact, it seems that Guy Ritchie and Madonna made an agreement which covered this.

Often a sensible agreement and settlement will resolve all issues including divorce and separation together with issues surrounding children and divorce along with the finances.

It seems, in fact it is, only a few months since news that they might divorce came out and it is already over. They used collaborative law. This is an increasingly popular approach and might be especially so in the present difficult credit crunch situation.

So, is it unfair to say Guy “gave up custody”? This is how it has been reported. I wish the media wouldn’t use such a phrase as some men then find it harder to make a sensible agreement to avoid being accused of “giving up” on the children.

I think it’s a credit to Madonna and Guy Richie that they were able to come to an agreement without dragging their dirty laundry through the Courts.  Perhaps more celebrities should think about a collaborative approach to divorce?...
